Can we work on a way to save the post office and the adjacent warehouse on Lancaster? The PO is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. At one time, there was some pretty serious talk about coverting the PO to a "new" City Hall. That would be very impressive and a fit venue for housing the administration of one the nation's Top 20 cities. Or how about bookending Lancaster with more upscale residences as down on the other end of the "Avenue of Lights" where the beautifully refurbished T&P Terminal and other development gives that approach some "wow" factor. Refurbing the PO and the warehouse would be pricey, but the character of the structures and the interior features of the PO have been described as priceless because the materials and workmanship are now so rare. It would be a shame to let them deteriorate to the point of having to be demolished and the architectural treasures carted off for projects in another city.
