Water Gardens extension: Jones Street Greenbelt

In another idea I proposed replacing several surface parking lots along Jones Street with one new parking garage.

Now here's what to do with the real estate.

Starting at E 14th Street, between Jones and Calhoun, rip up most of the asphalt. Plant a new grove of trees all the way to 12th. Add a winding sidewalk through the greenbelt.

Note that there are currently some occupied buildings facing Calhoun between 13th and 12th (Tarrant County Bar Association, empty Rodeo Steakhouse, Malone's Pub and Texas Food Store). Keep these but improve the appearances (Malone's already looks really nice; use that as an example). Add some gift and related shops along Jones between 14th and 12th.

Did I mention planting trees? Put in as many as possible.

Now this ugly stretch of asphalt and concrete has been transformed to match the beauty of the Water Gardens, the old Sante Fe buildings and the newer ITC. Nice!
