I read this article on yahoo about Manhattan on the idea of constructing more affordable studios and one bedroom apartments for single people or couples just starting out. I think we should apply that same idea to downtown Fort Worth's future. Now I am not exactly a blue print designer or handy man but I can say that if the success of these studios in Manhattan works out, we should follow that example. Many people are now used to living by themselves and focusing on their careers and putting off marriage and children. I used to live in a studio about the size of my mother's bedroom and bathroom combined. It had a small kitchen with a double sink, refrigerator, stove top/oven, and all the basic features you need to live in even a sliding door closet. And it was only $350 a month at the time, completely furnished too. Plus, I think veteran retirees would likely appreciate it too. As for Pricing, I would estimate it depending on what kind of Elegance you want to give it. $500 a month would be a good estimate. The purpose is to reduce the cost of living by 3/4 to 1/2 of what it would normally cost. Also minimum wage earnings in certain bars and grills would hardly cover utilities. I think the more people who are employed in downtown fort worth can really benefit from walking distance if these studios could be built. And I would love to be one of them in the future.
