Sponsor a contest for area school children to come up with their own ideas and concepts for Downtown. Include a prize for winner, and top 4 or 5. Projects should include objectives, cost analysis, ROI for sponsors, timelines, drawings/plans and viability models. Perfect project for all schools in terms of urban planning and overall social studies. Project could be geared and tailored for different grades. Local business could provide a Grand Prize of a gift to the school with most participants. This addresses needs of Downtown, inspires kids to think about their city of residence and what makes it liveable and helps the area schools with the budget issues that they all face.
