On a monthly basis we could rotate mini contests based on areas of education. If we focus on one area each month then divide the categories by age, grade or some other factor with the divisions concurrently contesting this could be done in one day or over a weekend.
Spelling bees, math competitions, designing and building a maze, robotics building, creating an art piece on site based on a movement, etc.
