Public Monitoring Energy Usage

I saw this idea on Kickstarter and thought it would be really cool to implement for downtown with a public interface. Basically, it's a real-time energy usage meter that allows you to see how much money you are spending on your energy usage at any given time. I think it would be cool if we could monitor all the buildings, or buildings that choose to participate and run competitions to see who could reduce their use the most. It would even be cool over time to see how much energy we are using versus last week, last month, last year, etc. If houses in Ft. Worth implemented it, we could also run city-wide competitions and you can see how much other folks in your area have reduced their energy usage. Basically, we can make energy efficiency social and competitive!
